Our Fishing Equipment and Guides

Our Guides and Bass Boats

After 25 years of fishing the tributaries to the Rio Negro and Rio Branco we have learned what works when
running in waters with shallow sandbars and getting our boats thru small waterways into the backwater lagoons. Our custom 21’ aluminum bass boats equipped with 35 HP outboards and electric trolling motors are piloted by experienced guides that grew up on rivers we fish and have been with River Plate for an average of 10yrs.

Use of TFO Rods and Shimano Reels Provided for Your Use in Camp At No Additional Cost!
All terminal tackle including lures and flies are also included for your use while in camp

We provide high quality Temple Fork Outfitter bait casting, spinning and fly rods and reels loaded with the special Power Pro braided Kevlar line that is necessary when fishing for the hard fighting Peacock Bass in Brazil’s Amazon.  Most outfitters promote the concept that one weight rod and reel fits all Peacock Bass fishing situations as they only have heavy bait casting rods and reels that are designed to throw the 1 ½ oz to 2 oz big propeller type top water baits. We don’t subscribe to that theory. At our Safari Camps we have both heavy actions TFO bait casting & spinning rods equipped with either Shimano Curado 300 bait casting or Shimano 4000 spinning reels for working the heavy top water lures or TFO medium action bait casting rods equipped with Shimano Curado 200 bait casting reels . TFO 9 wt fly rods and TFO 375 fly reels loaded with sinking tip fly lines are also provided at our Safari Camps.  The most productive top water & subsurface baits by High Roller, Yo Zuri, Rebel, Rapala & several Brazilian manufactures are available for your use at our Safari Camps as well.  At our Safari Camps, you will have the lures the guides wish to use and have traditionally caught fish over the years.  Our guides spend hundreds of hours on the rivers with Peacock Bass fishermen & know what lures work in the different water conditions and during different times of the year.  There is no need for fishermen to go out and buy nearly a thousand dollars worth of special duty rods, reels and lures for their Amazon Peacock Bass fishing trip which are bulky and expensive to ship.  It can be very disappointing to bring fishing equipment and lures thousands of miles that work well for bass in the states but do not work well when fishing for Peacock Bass in the Amazon.  You are certainly welcome to bring your own equipment and lures if you wish but we will have quality equipment necessary for successful Peacock Bass fishing at your Safari Camp for your use while in camp.  Beware of the outfitters that sell you “The World Best” Peacock Bass fishing trip for $7.000.00 or more and then offer to “rent” the use of a couple of hundred dollars worth the fishing lures for your week’s fishing for $300.00 - $400.00!!
